Shadow was started in 2006 by two students who were determined to do their part in
giving back to college students on campuses across America.
Tired of seeing advertising dollars going to make keychains and cupholders, they decided
to channel these on-campus endorsements into creative yet functional products.
Shadow’s mission is to provide students with a free notebook that is informative,
practical, and saves them money. Why? To make their lives a little bit easier.
The Shadow notebook is a five-subject spiral notebook customized for every
participating college and designed to last an entire semester. Each notebook begins with
eight pages of useful campus information (maps, important dates, events, department
contacts, important resources, or anything else the school wants to include), and
continues with 64 pages per section of high quality note-taking pages. In order to
subsidize these books Shadow uses specific student-friendly sponsor messages as the
enclosed subject dividers, and inside covers.
The result is students who are excited and exceptionally grateful to their college for
providing them with a notebook that is functional, valuable, and free.
Define student-friendly
sponsors?
Shadow selects its partners based
on the direct value they offer the
student body. Past sponsors have
included student loan companies,
scholarship organizations,
nonprofit institutes, career
guides, direct savings on travel
and entertainment, and educational
material for real-world living.
