The faculty member of the 21st century has
stepped outside the familiar territory of the
lecture hall and the research laboratory to
engage in new partnerships with colleagues
across disciplines and administrative areas. Senior student
affairs officers (SSAOs) often find themselves part of these
new collaborative teams of academicians and administrators
working closely to develop new programs and advance
new projects to reach students in more meaningful ways.

In this article, three SSAOs and a former NASPA president
now serving as a university chancellor offer their perspec-
tives on what it takes to make that collaboration a reality.
